In 2008 GIGCAS held successfully four international conferences and one biparty conference, which include the following:　
(1) Symposium on the climate and environment in the city groups in Guangdong-Hong Kong – Macau city groups; 
(2) International symposium on observation of persistent organic pollutants and sand dusts in Asia; 
(3) Workshop on aquatic ecology and toxicology; 
(4) International symposium on fate and repair of pollutants in atmosphere, water and sediments; 
(5) 1st GIGCAS-Hong Kong University academic symposium. 
Additionally, GIGCAS hosted the Sino-Macau training class for management of aquifer backfilling in cooperation with Tsinghua University and Jinan University. 　 
In 2009 GIGCAS held successfully two international conferences, which include the following:　
(1) 2nd GIGCAS-Hong Kong University academic symposium, held in Hong Kong University, where 27 researchers and graduate students participated in the symposium.　
(2) Sino-UK workshop on water quality-related science and technology.
