To encourage excellent foreign young scientists to participate in basic research in China, and foster the research collaboration and academic exchange between foreign and Chinese scientists, the Natural Scientific Foundation of China (NSFC) has setup a special funding scheme for foreign young scientists willing to work in China.
Up to now, the scheme has funded 120 foreign young scientists, of which 80 were funded in the year of 2010 with a total budget of 151 million Yuan. The funding period for each case is from half a year to one year.
In 2011, the applicants are required to be recommended by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) or Ministry of Education of China (MEC), before submitting their proposals for the funding.
There will be two seasons of application in 2011. The deadlines are:
1st Season: Jan 31 2011, CAS or MEC to recommend
March 15 2010, proposal submitting
2nd Season: June 30 2011, CAS or MEC to recommend
August 15 2010, proposal submitting
