Recently Professor Eddy Y. Zeng with the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has accepted an invitation from Professor Jerry Schnoor, Editor of Environmental Science & Technology (ES&T) to become a member of the journal’s Editorial Advisory Board on a three-year term (2011–2013). ES&T is one of the most celebrated journals published by the American Chemical Society, and is also considered the most authoritative journal in the fields of environmental science and engineering. The impact factor of ES&T was 4.63 in 2009. As a member of ES&T’s Editorial Advisory Board, Professor Zeng will be involved in reviewing manuscripts, selecting the journal’s Top Papers of the Year, editing special issues and writing Feature Articles, as well as providing ideas and advice for the long-term growth of the journal.
Professor Zeng was the recipient of the “One Hundred Talents Program” of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003 and received the highest mark (“Excellence”) in the final program evaluation in 2008. He was selected in 2005 to receive funding from the Distinguished Young Investigator Fund (“Foreign Citizen”) administrated by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSFC). In 2008, a research group led by Professor Zeng was elected to be funded by the Innovative Research Team Fund, also administrated by the NNSFC. Professor Zeng was the Director of the Chemistry Laboratory of the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project in the United States, and has devoted his efforts to investigating the regional processes of persistent organic pollutants in the Pearl River Delta since joining the staff of the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry in 2004. He has published a number of research papers, viewpoint articles and comments in ES&T.
