The Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) North America 32nd annual meeting was held in Boston, MA, USA from November 13-17, 2011. In this meeting, Dr. Jing You from the State Key Laboratory of Organic Geochemistry, Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Science, won the SETAC/Royal Society of Chemistry Environmental (RSC) Science Award. This award, offered jointly by SETAC and RSC, is presented once a year to an early to mid-career scientist who has accomplished outstanding contributions to environmental sciences.
The research interests of Dr. You are in the areas of aquatic toxicology and sediment risk assessment, with particular focuses on understanding bioavailability, toxicokinetics and toxicity of sediment-associated contaminants, and identifying the principal causes of toxicity in the presence of multiple stressors using toxicity identification evaluation techniques. Recently, Dr. You has made a series achievements on occurrence, effects and risk assessment of current-use pesticides such as pyrethroid insecticides.
