State Key Laboratory of Deep Earth Processes and Resources (DEEPER)

The State Key Laboratory of Deep Earth Processes and Resources (DEEPER), officially established in 2025, is a major research division under GIGCAS. DEEPER has been formed through the integration of several prestigious research entities: the former State Key Laboratory of Isotope Geochemistry, the petroleum and gas research groups of the former State Key Laboratory of Organic Geochemistry, the CAS Key Laboratory of Mineralogy and Metallogeny, and the GIGCAS branch of the CAS Key Laboratory of Ocean and Marginal Sea Geology.
State Key Laboratory of Advanced Environmental Technology (SKLAET)

The State Key Laboratory of Advanced Environmental Technology (SKLAET) was established in 2025 through adjusting the former Stake Key Laboratory of Organic Geochemistry (established in 1989) of GIGCAS, as well as incorporating leading research groups from the University of Science and Technology of China and the Institute of Urban Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Environmental Protection and Resources Utilization

The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Environmental Protection and Resources Utilization (LEPRU) is the first provincial key laboratory co-established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Guangdong province. Officially founded in 1995 and hosted by GIGCAS, LEPRU is now recognized as one of China’s most influential laboratories in environmental organic pollution research.
Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Mineral Physics and Materials

The Laboratory of Mineral Physics and Materials, which was founded in 1996, was designated as a Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory in 2000. Hosted by GIGCAS and focusing on the physical-chemistry of minerals and the application of mineral resources, the laboratory mainly studies mineral physics, surface physical chemistry of minerals, genetic mineralogy, and the development and application of mineral materials. Leveraging abundant mineral resources in Guangdong province, the laboratory seeks to develop new functional materials and explore commercially viable mineral-based technologies, contributing to high-tech industrialization.
Joint Laboratory of Chemical Geodynamics

As one of the 22 accredited joint laboratories established between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and universities in Hong Kong, the Joint Laboratory of Chemical Geodynamics was co-founded by GIGCAS and the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2008.
Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Environmental Pollution and Control

Established in 2018, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Environmental Pollution and Control is a major collaborative research platform between GIGCAS and the Faculty of Construction and Environment at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, as well as one of the 22 accredited joint laboratories between the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and universities in Hong Kong.
