Joint Laboratory of Chemical Geodynamics
As one of the 22 accredited joint laboratories between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and universities in Hong Kong, the Joint Laboratory of Chemical Geodynamics was co-founded by GIGCAS and the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2008.
By conducting cutting-edge, fundamental, and applied research centering on Deep Earth, critical mineral resources and planetary science, we aspire to reveal the intrinsic connection between Deep Earth processes and mineralization, clarify the environmental evolution trajectory and controlling factors of mineralization, and provide theoretical support for mineral resource exploration and development. We also focus on major frontier scientific issues in geoscience, such as pre-plate-tectonics and the origin of continents. Planetary science is one of our research priorities in our long-term vision.
