Regional environmental geochemical processes of organic pollutants TEXT SIZE: A A A
Major environmental media such as the atmosphere, water, soil, sediments and aquatic organisms in the Pearl River reaches were selected as the subject of the study, and a systematic study was carried out on the status quo of organic pollution in the environmental media and its genetic features in the Pearl River delta region and its peripheral regions. Close attention was paid to new pollutants and their sources, and their distribution among different environmental media, their transportation, degradation and final residence were studied. A basic database for environmental pollution in the Pearl River reaches was set up, and a complete set of technological means for monitoring, assessment, prediction and regulation of pollution in the reaches were stipulated. The results can provide scientific criteria for administrative authorities to establish an effective management system for pollution control, and in this way, a harmonious development situation for both economic development and environmental protection can be expected.
