Education:

Ph.D. in Mineralogy, Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 2003.

M.S. in Mineralogy, Jilin University, 1999.

B.S. in Geology, Changchun College of Geology, 1996

Research Interests:

Clay minerals are extensively distributed on the earth surface. His research interests centre on the interactions between clay minerals and environmental contamination, particularly the relationship between the microstructure of clay minerals and sorption mechanisms of contamination onto the modified clay minerals. By the aid of spectroscopy method and modeling simulation, the sorption processes at a molecular level can be revealed. He was particularly interested in the interdisciplinary research of clay mineralogy, environmental chemistry and computer chemistry, and the results will bring new view in the research of the environment- clay mineral system, especially the interface reaction between clay mineral, water and organic contamination. Current projects include the compare study on the microstructure of clay minerals under dry and wet states, as well as developing novel in-situ characterization technologies for clay minerals in water.

Other research interests. (1) Mineral surfaces, including Nanostructure of mineral surface, the reactivity of different crystal faces, and the interface reaction between water and mineral surface; (2) REE in weathering crust.
