State Key Laboratory of Organic Geochemistry (SKLOG) TEXT SIZE: A A A

  

  The State Key Laboratory of Organic Geochemistry (SKLOG) was approved for founding in 1989, and accredited and officially launched by former China National Planning Committee in November 1992, to meet the national needs for energy resources and environmental protection.

  

  SKLOG also stands for a global centre of excellence in Organic Geochemistry and researches on fossil fuel resources and environmental pollution. The current research priorities include:

  – Formation and assessment of deep-strata oil resources;

  – Unconventional oil and gas resources, including shale gas;

  – Environmental fate and risk management of hazardous organic pollutants;

  – Environmental atmospheric chemistry and air quality;

  – Organic molecular indicators for biogeology, biogeochemistry and environmental change

  Upon 2018, SKLOG has a staff number of 71, including 54 research staffs and 17 technicians, and a total number of postdoctors, MSc and PhD students added up to ~210. SKLOG has currently a lab space of 7700 m2. It is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments/labs for organic analysis and experiments, including 11 types of Big Instruments such as FT-ICR-MS, LC-Orbitrap-MS, HRGC-HRMS, LC-MS-MS, GC/LC-IRMS, NMR, SEM, smog chamber etc., as well as 18 Function Labs dedicated to various research topics, such as aerosol physicochemistry lab, VOCs lab, atmospheric photo-chemistry lab, dioxin lab, shale gas lab, radiocarbon lab etc.

  Currently, SKLOG receives an annual budget of c.a. 4 million Yuan from Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), which consists of an annual Open Fund budget of c.a. 2 million Yuan, from which around 20 research projects could be granted each year with full technical support from SKLOG, and an infrastructure maintenance and operation budget of c.a. 2 million Yuan annually.

  The research of SKLOG is organized in Research Groups, each managed by a distinguished scientist. Whilst the SKLOG infrastructure has been kept open to domestic and international scientists coming up with mutual research interests with SKLOG staffs.

  SKLOG welcomes international scientist who is interested in collaboration with China, or wishes to Join Us as a staff or post-doctor. Students who are willing to pursue their PhD/MSc degrees in Geochemistry or Environmental Science and Engineering in Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) are also welcome to contact us .
